POP: This image was created to express the word pop . The image of the burst water was taking in my bathroom at home. I used low lighting and a fast shutter speed to get this effect. To capture the water I first filled a balloon full of water and hung it from the ceiling, popped the balloon then quickly took a photo. I then that the photo onto rotational and adjusted lighting and added a glow from the center out, I also did this with the letter P. I made the P’s transparent so they looked as if they were behind the water.
Clang: This image was created to express the word clang. For the text I want you something I personally thought made a clanging noise so I chose tools. I rearran ged told several times to create the best effect. I had light above the tools to create a drop shadow. After I had taken images chose my favorite one and put onto photoshop. I made the image darker and added more shadow.
Boing: This image was created to express the word boing. I make them wear elastic bands. I want to get the shadow effect on the elastic bands so I added a red light to the left-hand side of the bands to get the drop shadow I wanted. I then pinged all the bands and took several photos. I didn't capture the boing of the bands that well so I put the photo onto photo shop and added more blur to the bands I then made the gradient from red on the left on the right.
Triumph poster: For this brief I was allowed to create any type of advertisement I wanted for Triumph motorcycles new learning school. I decided to create a poster as my point of sale.
International Society of Typographic Designers: The Undiscovered Country
Brief: I was asked to stare death in the face and find out everything there is the know about it then produce a publication that visits death.
Solution: I researched into my favourite time in history which is the Victorian ere and how they had very strange ways of celebrating and dealing with death. I discovered a really interesting article discussed Victorian funerals and the mourning process. I decided to use this article to produce a Victorian style newspaper publication that enfranchises key parts of the literature.
Brief: This was a team project to produce a magazine which explores and interoperated the theme of subvert.
Solution: In my group we decided to go with the theme of people communicating over the internet even when they are with other people in a social public area. At one time this would have been considered rude but is now becoming more and more acceptable. We decided to call our magazine D-OneForty, this stands for domain and the 140 characters in a tweet as people increasingly express themselves this way. I chose to produce articles based on relationships with friends, loved ones and potential partners online and how its becoming more and more normal to meet a partner online rather than in the real world.
These are my spreds for the magazine
Perfume Advert
Brief: To produce a perfume advert but recording it in one continuous take. Solution: I picked the chanel perfume advert which smelt of tar and smoke. I wanted to produce a film where you got this see and feel the tar and smoke fusing together to become one fregrance. I filmed food dye traveling through moving water and played dark eerie music to get a sence of pouring tar and smoke connecting with the earthy tones of the scent, I then slowed the sequence down so the viewer could see the movement in the water.
